Momma’s Hand

I saw you hide your wrinkled hands
Behind your timid self called fear
I easily noticed the veins from those hands
Because they have always gave me care

I say it’s no disgrace
To have working hands like you
I wish I did all you did for me
I’d have hands like you too

The hands that has hauled down trees
And worked severely in God’s great earth
They’ve felt the bitterness in the cold
And warmed up those with cold hearth

They’ve touched the young in heart
And caressed the fevered head
With hands you’ve neatly carved
My cherished little cradle bed

They’ve scrubbed the kitchen floor
And done lots of dishes each day
They’ve guided orphans and prodigals
Who somehow have lost their way

Every year they’ve made Christmas gift
Accepted by friends with both hands
They don’t only care and guide
But has directed many to the promise land

They’ve worn bruises and blisters
And have many calluses to show
For all they’ve done for me and others
The tale speaks and everyone knows

So you see my dearest mother
Yours are the hands of love
And I bet the lord will easily notice
When he greets you up above

Somebody Should Have Taught Him

She went to a bridal shower one night
Reciting all that her Dad had said
“Don’t drink alcohol and drive”
So she had a Sprite instead

Of course she felt proud of herself
The way her Dad said she would
She kept the promise not to drink and drive
Though all friends said she should

She knew she made a healthy choice
Her Dad’s advice to her was right
But as the party finally ended
Virtually everyone drove drunk that night

She got into her car with clear eyes
Sure to get home in one piece
Never knowing what headed her way
She actually got home in one peace

Lying on her back on the sidewalk
She faintly heard the policeman say
“The dude that caused this wreck was drunk”
His voice to her seemed far away

She was in the pool of her own blood
Her mouth wobbles as though to cry
The Good Samaritan did all they could
Their best saved the drunken guy

She was sure the drunken guy had no idea
On what she wanted to be the next day
And because he chose to drink and drive
Then she must have to die today

Why on earth would men take this risk
Knowing that it has ruined many lives
This she felt as death began cutting
Like a hundred stabbing knives

Someone should have schooled him
That it was wrong to drink and drive
Maybe if his mom and dad had
She’d still be here with everyone alive

Her breathe is getting shorter
Her spirit seemed really scared
She finally mumbled her final words
Gush! She looks so unprepared

Tell my fiancé not to be afraid
Tell Daddy he should be brave
And as I go to heaven a smiling
Put my engagement ring on my grave

She wished her fiancé could hold her
As she lie in his arms and die
She wished that she could simply say
“I love you all and good-bye!”

The Inexplicable Problem

After a traumatic work day
Going back to my humble home
A familiar cry reaches the ear
Oh! It’s the sound of my mobile phone

“Who could this be”? I questioned
It’s a call from a private number
“Its I… I’ll call you…” was all she said
But the voice was far too familiar

Though it wasn’t a normal flash
The voice produced too many pictures
I ran my memory in a speedy form
But none matches such features

Whose fault then was it?
Mine! Or that of the caller
Was it the network coverage?
Or that of the moving car

Had I known, would have trekked home
No! Jumped out of the car in motion
If only she wouldn’t call me back
Wouldn’t have been in this commotion

Though it gives me great thought
And lots of funny inspiration to write
That was the longest suspense of all
My ceiling had a million sheets that night

Could this be the caller’s intention?
To know the state of my patience
But if an vital message is to be passed
Then why this inconsequential suspense

But whatever this is
Chaos is the state of my mind
I wait meticulously for her call again
If only this poem she would find

SOMEONE NOBODY KNOWS

She sits daily with loneliness
And smiles at nothing at all
She stares at the critical gaze of men
From the mirror that hangs on the wall

She waits for someone who is nobody
And for decades everbody comes or goes
With hope to be free one day
She’s somebody nobody knows

Down to the cares of life she falls
Like someone the world threw away
Nobody comes to the rescue
None bother’s to look down where she lay

Though she cries, tries helplessly
To wipe memories off her shadow
A shadow the world leaves behind
Is the accolade from her fellows

She is someone nobody knows
Cries where nobody can hear
Someone is dying alone in pain
In this life and nobody seem to care

What Matters!

It matters more the words you speak in part
For it determines what you have in your heart
It matters more the choice of your Faith
For it determines your fate

It matters more the friends you keep
For it determines your dream while you sleep
It matters more the clothes you put on
For it talks about your inner man more

It matters more what things you see
For it determines what you believe
It matters more what you hear
For it determines your fear

It matters more what thing you touch
For it determines you thought very much
It matters more what you taste
For it determines your waste

It matters more what you smell
For it determines your instinct very well
It matters more what you talk about
For it might put many in doubt

It matters more what life you live
For it determines what you will receive
It matters more what you take in
For it determines the formation of your skin

It matters more what you know
For it determines what you show
It matters more what you do
For it tells more about you

Pls Forgive me

Darkness fills the sky
As it seems stronger than daylight
Coloured pictures of the past
Threatens to fade into black and white

Weary and overwhelmed with fatigue
As time smugly stands still
Coldness fills the lungs
Pushing the heart to inaudibly fall ill

Lingoes of regret and anger
Fills the once pretty face
As words of deterrent oozed out
Turning Excellency into disgrace

It is tedious to conciliate this anger
With an effortless quixotic line
Being a daily expression
Petrified of not being sublime

Seeing this astonishing world
In a unpretentious perspective
Bleedings of the heart isn't obscure
Though in pain won't be restive

Pleading from the dept of heart
Don't shy away this time or snub
Scrutinizing egotist ambitions
With tender arms dreaming to hug

Let the horizontal and perpendicular
Which forms a cross
Truss our heart in Christian love
Which in return forms the two of us

Extraordinary but Human

They are extremely strong
Though in pain would not cry
They are vulnerable to hurt
When told a funny white lie

To attest their love
They would swallow their pride
They loathe creating awareness
When there is something to hide

They are susceptible to criticism
When they please egotism
They smile in disguise
To remove the shame from their eyes

They do most of the talking
And in half they listen
They are hyper-active intoto
Barely trice beaten

They value their flesh and bone
Better than luxurious gold
They are often too anxious to know
The mysteries that are seldom told

They keep to their promises
Never changing their mind
They are the most precious gift
Any mature woman can find

Self confidence builds them
A little nag tears them apart
Though bravado in character
They are blessed with a fragile heart

What is

There isn't a beginning without an end
There isn't an enemy that wasn't once a friend
There isn't a pride without a fall
There isn't a walk without a crawl

There isn't a smoke without fire
There isn't a love without a desire
There isn't a sacrifice without pain
There isn't a lightening and thundering without rain

There isn't a time that'll forever last
There isn't a future without a past
There isn't a future without a present
There isn't a flower without a scent

There isn't a death without suppurate
There isn't a pain the heart can't tolerate
There isn't an ecstasy without satisfaction
There isn't humility without elevation

There isn't a Spoken Word without a thought
There isn't a teacher that wasn't taught
There isn't a warrior without a bloody sword
There isn't a tree without a bud

There isn't a rose that isn't gotten from thorns
There isn't a lily that isn't gotten from mud
There isn't a giving without receiving
There isn't a word that isn't worth believing

There isn't a broken heart love can't mend
There isn't a hungry soul that can't be fed
There isn't a lost that can't be found
There isn't a thing that can't make a sound

Something Inside of Me

There is something inside of me
That I want the whole world to see
It is neither massive nor small
But it is the greatest gift of all

It makes me humble and meek
And it’s free to them that diligently seek
It answers my prayers as soon as I pray
And when I kneel it creates a way

Though easy, yet surpasses the wise
The prudent are beaten betimes
And only them that reads between the line
Knows that these words are not mine

When it comes out like a song
It makes me right my wrong
And when it comes out like love
It is in the similitude of a dove

It elevates the low and simple
It brings gentleness among many people
It is the best thing that can ever occur
When it comes in contact with the poor

It crowns good success at the end
For it is an in need and indeed friend
And whenever it is called upon
Seldom disappoints, right on time with joy

There is something within my soul
And it mends the broken whole
For I have tried it and you can see
That it is Jesus on the inside of me

Blind Son Of Timæus

Darkness once filled my world
Believing only what I smell and hear
Many are aware of my distresses
Yet many could barely bear

Left my juvenile court
To embrace the youthful arms I didn't see
In the open I sat daily
Waiting for the dime meant for me

In rags I am clothed
With crumbs I am fed
My bride hardly believes her sight
Wishing I was dead

Yet my little turtle dove
I sacrificed for her health
Forfeited my lamb for my daughter
Who sings my heart to melt

Though I haven't seen her
Her voice lingers in my head
I tried all to do for her
Yet couldn't make her cradle bed

Suicidal became my dearest friend
As fulfilment days drew near
Having achieving nothing big
Torrential judgment became my fear

As I walked down to my usual spot
I felt like any other day
Ambivalence clouds my mind
Wondering what next to say

Voices were noised abroad
Heralding an uncertain rain
What could this be I questioned
A familiar name heads my way

My adrenalin shot at desperation
My voice He heard finally
He sent for me and demanded
My request was granted gradually

"Happy Birthday"

Should I tell you about a morning?
Waking up not hearing the bird sing
Should I tell you about a vesper?
Where sorrow was all I could bring

Should I tell you about the rain that fell?
And brought total debacle to Abuja
Should I tell you about a stranger I met?
Who left my life ajar

Should I tell you about a one night stand
That after everything I got blisters
Should I tell you about the predicament
That happened to one of my sisters

Should I tell you about church I went to
And saw the greatest profanities
Should I tell you about the lonely night
I slept with promiscuous reveries

Should I tell you about a gay wedding
That got all the ladies in the house weeping
Should I tell you about the diva girl
That got every guy tripping

Should I tell you about my new nephew
Whose father happens to be my brother
Should I tell you about the many atrocities
That takes place across the borders

What should I tell you
To make you smile all day
Well, today being the day you were born
From my heart I’ll simply say
Happy Birthday

To My Unborn Child (The reason why)

Whatever name you call
There is a personal faith in all
Whatever event you remember
Seldom forget the 26th of December

Whatever wine you taste
Never get crazy in haste
Whatever bread you eat
Always remember to bless it

Wherever you lay your head down
Be contented and please don't frown
Whatever condition you are found
Be candid and literally sound

Whenever past memories fills your soul
Whatever got broken becomes whole
Whenever you are clouded with uncertainty
Refuge yourself in excellent vicinity

Whenever you are hurt and forced to cry
Swiftly wipe your tears before they dry
Whenever you are paralysed with fear
Wrap yourself in the creator's care

Whenever the sky fume with rain
Stand firm and tolerate the pain
Whenever the sun refuses to gloss
Know a great portion waits to be yours

Whenever dark clouds should hide the moon
Just know that sunrise is coming up soon
Whenever fear fills your blue sky
With time you'll know the reason why

One can be you

One song can spark a jiffy,
One flower can wake a reverie.
One handclasp can lift a soul
One word can frame a goal

One tree can start a jungle,
One bird can form a jingle.
One smile begins a friendship,
One star can guide a ship

One vote can change a country,
One sunbeam lights an opportunity,
One candle wipes out darkness,
One laugh conquers gloominess.

One step starts each journey
One word must start each plea.
One hope can raise the low and simple,
One touch can change many people.

One voice can speak with insight
One heart can know what's right,
One life can make a distinction,
And that one would be perfection

It’s Okay to Cry

I saw her after a long time
She never did changed from her prime
She bleached her hair to hide her feelings
Her beautiful face had lost all its meanings

She needed to talk
So we took a long walk
I thought about my friend I left in a rush
She thought about her first crush

She spoke about her love affairs
Then I saw a heart bound with fear
She told me about her inner pain
Then I saw friendship worth the gain

She told me about goals in life
I saw a picture of a virtuous wife
She told me about her exigency of a friend
I saw a broken heart I could mend

She was missing her family
I was missing a friend badly
She thought her life was a waste
I saw a fruit that’s worth to taste

I then saw her in a worst state
I took her hands and gave her some faith
I said these words to show I was candid
“I was there, its okay to cry” - so she did

Freedom

Many years has passed us by
Yet no sign of a coming liberation
Our burdens increase by the day
At dusk we dine with affliction

Our fathers work earnestly
To satisfy the obnoxious taskmasters
Our mothers kept the chaste line strong
Despite all promiscuous dangers

Our young and gorgeous daughters
Are used for pleasure and satisfaction
Our young and mighty men of valour
Are mainly used to stop opposition

Babies are abundantly born
In bond they age and fade away
The strong is susceptible to the weak
Hopes and dreams die each passing day

Every night with prayers of faith
We wonder the end of this madness
But all we see is Judas amid us
And all he has to offer is silliness

Who will remember us?
Who will hear our humble cry?
In disguise we are benevolence
Sitting idle gazing to the empty sky

The Elixirs of a Smile

It cost nothing but creates much
Enriching those who freely gives
With it Midas’s touch and power
It gladdens those who receives

Though it happens in a flash
Its memories always last long
Some could be done in total disguise
But its efficacies are never wrong

It creates happiness in the home
Fosters goodwill in a business
Forms a good banter on the phone
Frees any in the land of distress

It gives strength to the weak
Daylight to the broken hearted
Sunshine to them that are sad
And nature’s antidote for the departed

Cannot be bought or begged for
Cannot be borrowed or stolen away
For its of no earthly good to anyone
Until it is freely given away

And if you meet any in life’s way
That seems too tired to smile
Dropping yours with such a one
Would be really worth the while

For only those who have none to give
Really need to receive a simple smile
So if you want people to really like you
The basic rule is – give them a smile

My Special Friend

When I have no one to turn to
And I feel kind of low,
When there is no one to talk to
And nowhere pleasing enough to go,
I search deep within myself
It is the love inside my heart
That lets me know you are there
Even though we are miles apart

A smile then appears upon my face

Then the sun begins to shine.
I hear a voice, so soft and sweet
Saying, 'Everything will be just fine'
It may seem that I am alone
But I am never by myself at all.
Whenever I need you near
All I have to do is call.

Your Friendship is really true
On that I can depend
I will always stand beside you
And will always be your friend
Through darkest hours and brightest days
You always see me through.
You are my one and only
Perhaps I am one for you.

Valentine

Should I call you my Girl?
You deserve more, many would tell
Should I call you my wife?
A Dicey Descision in my young life
What should I call you?
To make the sky blue
Since you alone mended my heart with time
You deserve to be called my valentine....
